Vancouver Disc Centers Knows Anatomy Well, Knows Your Spine Well
Your Vancouver chiropractor knows
your spine! Vancouver Disc Centers knows anatomy. Back in
chiropractic school, your chiropractor studied a lot
about anatomy of the spine and puts that knowledge to
use every day. Knowing the anatomy of the
spine is continually
at the forefront of your chiropractor’s mind as you and each spine pain, neck
pain, back pain patient walks through the door!
It is so exciting! (Are you not you happy
someone finds it exciting?)
LEARNING ANATOMY IN SCHOOL
When we were in school, we’re
all guilty of learning just to pass an exam. Going
to professional school, such learning is more important
than ever since it will influence everyday work. (How much
do you remember from your school days?) An
international survey of chiropractors and anatomists discovered
that chiropractors felt that a higher level of anatomy teaching
during chiropractic education was advantageous
for clinical practice, allowing better understanding,
application, and analysis of anatomical material to justify
a clinical decision in their daily clinical practice. (1) An Australian study
of chiropractors compared their knowledge of anatomy to that of chiropractic
students. The chiropractic practitioners reported
that they knew their anatomy and demonstrated it in a test
showing their knowledge. This was contrasted
to the equivalent in their chiropractic student counterparts. The
chiropractors showed that they retained their
knowledge of anatomy - and knew they did! – contradicting the hypothesis
that practicing chiropractors may not keep
it after school. Knowledge of anatomy is utilized
every day in chiropractic practice, and chiropractors understand
their anatomy. (2) Your Vancouver chiropractor does! We
will be happy to talk about it!
SPINAL ANATOMY KNOWLEDGE PUT TO USE IN CHIROPRACTIC CLINICAL
PRACTICE
Performing spinal manipulation daily applies knowledge of the spine’s anatomy every day.
The most ordinary reasons people reported seeking chiropractic care were low back pain (49.7%), neck pain (22.5%), and
extremity issues (10.0%). The most common treatment they received
were spinal manipulation (79.3%), soft tissue therapy (35.1%), and formal
patient education (31.3%). (3) Spinal conditions get a great
deal of attention from chiropractic patients and their
chiropractors, of course! But fortunate side effects of
chiropractic care emerge in the medical literature as well
like potential cardiovascular benefit. In a placebo-controlled, assessor-blinded,
randomized trial, researchers described the immediate effects
of manual therapy to the upper thoracic
spine on cardiovascular autonomic control of musculoskeletal pain
patients (ie, back pain, spine pain,
neck pain, etc.). The researchers stated that musculoskeletal
pain increased the risk of cardiovascular events. (4) Come experience
these benefits of chiropractic treatment based on spinal anatomy knowledge.
