Vancouver Healthy News from Vancouver Disc Centers April 2017

Vancouver Disc Centers reveals these NEW back pain guidelines
and recommendations:
Spinal Manipulation as a First Option
For acute, subacute and chronic low back pain, the American College of
Physicians recommends non-invasive, non-drug treatment of low back
pain at any of these stages, particularly spinal manipulation
among the recommendations. (1) Any stage of Vancouver back pain or Vancouverneck
pain is welcomed at Vancouver Disc Centers. Our Vancouver chiropractic care
applies to any stage of pain! The Cox Technic system of Vancouver
back pain relief reduces intradiscal pressures, widens the
intervertebral spinal canal area by up to 28%, and enhances
spinal mobility. Ready for non-drug, non-surgical back pain relief? Contact us!
Acute Pain: Spinal Manipulation
Acute low back pain – pain that lasts up to 6 weeks in
duration – responds to spinal manipulation according to a new article in the
Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) that studied published
randomized clinical trials. This review reports
that spinal manipulation offers modest improvement in
pain and function with no serious adverse effects. (2)
JAMA also published an editorial by the well-known
medical doctor and author, Richard Deyo, MD, about spinal manipulation for back
pain referencing Paige’s study. The editorial explains
that spinal manipulation treatment for acute low back pain is fitting.
Its use is in line with the American College of Physicians review and
subsequent guideline. Spinal manipulation produces modest
improvement in pain and function in the short-term in comparison
with sham manipulation, usual care and other treatments. And of note, Deyo points
out that, of the trials reviewed by Paige et al and
the American College of Physicians, none suggested that spinal manipulation care
was less effective than conventional medical care (drugs, rest, etc.). SMT
proved equal to or better than conventional care. (3)
